Chloe DeMore – Side Effects

Being about finally breaking free from a toxic relationship, the new release of singer/songwriter doesn’t create a driven and energetic atmosphere, it doesn’t crave attention through sudden changes or energetic highlights. It simply is awesome because of its emotional power.

With a very basic and slow backing, the track seems a bit too weak and superficial at first. Overall, the tune feels like being too shy to exist. But there’s this unbelievable amount of emotion present. With a core honesty, the vocals tell their story with passionate and pristine melodies. Carefully crafted, these vocals are believable, using the whole palette from affectionate and shy to assertive and confident. As the piano and slow rhythm are only there to provide the minimum amount of support, the track creates a reflective scenario that shows signs of relief, but also melancholy and sadness. In other words, the topic of the tune is pictured perfectly.

“Side Effects” is a great showcase of what DeMore is capable of. Transmitting style, soul, and emotion at a high level and with that special kind of what I’d like to call “diary vibe”, it’s not a question that she’ll continue to enchant listeners all over the world with her unique kind of storytelling.
