Joergundtoene – Ich habe mich verliebt

This tune by German singer/songwriter Jörg Woinowski is truly unique. I seems to not follow any restrictions or genre regulations. And that’s exactly the point of why I love the tune.

There’s an awesome blend of …well, anything present in “Ich habe mich verliebt” (“I fell in love”). Literally, anything of the tune goes against the norm. Melodic composition, genre mix, vocals, and lyrics – any aspect of this track seems to challenge your judgment. For me, the track is attached to a provocative smile, and I’m sure that’s exactly the point of how the track came to life. With its seemingly incompatible elements, from tempo to lyrics to genre to message to whatever else comes to mind, the track has a youthful (let’s call it) “punk-ish” soul presented in a fashion that is probably enjoyed best when seen and heard live. But without that opportunity, the video does the trick as well.

All in all, it’s this intriguing blend of elements that make the track a great contrast to mainstream, and a summer-ish variety, an antagonist to the shiny heroes of the music industry, if you will. And if you care for my opinion, we need unusual suspects like Joergundtoene in the music industry out there.
