CrashMonkeys – Aspirin

A somewhat laid-back appeal, mixed with a smile and a gorgeous rock texture. That’s “Aspirin”, the newest release of CrashMonkeys, in a nutshell.

Dealing with the irritation of being inundated by social media’s false prophets and snake oil salesmen pushing the so-called cures of success and fame, the track contains an intriguing mix of relaxed wisdom with a twist. In a way, the tune transmits precisely that feeling you get when talking to a guy offering you the deal of your life.

You know the golden rule “When it feels wrong, it usually IS wrong”, right? For me, that’s the general mood happening in this track. You gotta love the swingy, funky approach of the music, getting under your skin to make you move but not fully trust the situation. Completed with those calm and almost innocent vocals, the track combines both old and new, classic and energetic, and shiny and gritty. There’s a perfect balance of all these elements to find in this tune, making it an instant classic.
