Marlena Dae – delicate storm

In a fragile and almost stealth-like fashion, the new release of German multi-talent Marlena Dae creates a very unique atmosphere that feels dark, vulnerable, cold, and lonely. Using a minimal arpeggio as a base, all eyes (better: ears) are set on the vocals.

Inspired by Neruda’s “Ode to the Storm”, the tune is both a poem and a music track, abducting the listener to a place filled with a rainy atmosphere and dark yet saturated textures of sound. You gotta love the playful concept in which the desire is being transmitted. The lightweight backing melodies blend seamlessly with silky synth textures, while the vocals are filled with passion and intimacy. With “delicate storm”, it’s exactly this mixture that has me playing the song on repeat. In its seemingly simple approach, the track builds a whole storybook of vibes.
