The Sweet Serenades – Back in Your Arms

The latest release of Swedish one-man band The Sweet Serenades combines a heartfelt emotional moodset with soft and understanding textures to create a ballad that goes under the skin from the first note on.

In my opinion it does so because of the perfect mixture of elements it consists of. There’s this relaxed floaty atmosphere, containing dark but dense expressive textures that feel both melancholic and uplifting – a combination which is a very rare thing to find in music out there. And this scenery gets completed by those sophisticated vocals telling their story by creating a whole new sub-mood I’d like to name “mellow darkness”.

The range of emotions connect instantly with the listener, and it triggers thoughts and feelings that lie in everyone of us. Due to the fact that the tune is such a slow mover, it amplifies its reflective standpoint. It’s like hearing a thought process with woven in facts, hopes, wishes, and a desperate intensity of emotions that are always there but got tamed along the way.
