Callen – Fooling Myself

You gotta love this outstanding beaten-down vibe present in the new release of Nashville based singer/songwriter/producer Callen. Starting with a really burnt out moodset, the track evolves into a classic anthem you should play when things went south and you find yourself staring in the mirror.

The single uses a relaxed alt rock atmosphere that fills the room with a certain ‘positive melancholy’. Preparing the stage for the convincing moody vocals, the backing feels soft – well, at least until the chorus kicks in. I love the transition of leaving melancho-town, heading for confidence city during the chorus. For me, it’s a friendly reminder to not stay down. To get up and get your shit together. “Fooling Myself” is something to think about, folks.

Taken off the album “Ghost Reflections”, this tune is only one of several awesome tracks containing both a pop-rocking drive, and a portion of wisdom. Callen won’t back down from and genre-blending move. It’s this unique relaxed and clean signature drive transmitted through relatable vocals and chilled backings with energetic twists, that makes his music so irresistible.
