Sarah Lettes – Shooting Star

With a signature emotional fragility in a bittersweet atmosphere, the new release of American singer/songwriter Sarah Lettes carries such a stripped down honesty that it’s impossible to ‘just’ listen to the tune without feeling it at the same time.

Being about an engulfing, toxic love where beauty and pain exist side by side, the track contains this unfiltered messy vibe everyone of us knows too well. The beaten down and kind of disenchanted moodset is pictured by the airy reverbed backing elements along the soft and defensive vocals of Lettes. One of the most intriguing aspects is the mood change of the song, happening from melancholic and hopeless, to lightweight and playful back and fourth. It’s as if the feelings would come and go.

And that’s the beauty of “Shooting Star”. It’s not too often that a track is able to picture a feeling so well. Caught between hoping for things to maybe change, and the temptation of just giving in, this track speaks out of the heart and soul of way too many out there.
