Ariane Gabriel – pathetic

The new release of French-American alt-pop singer/songwriter Ariane Gabriel really goes under the skin. Starting with a sub-surfaced, deep and low bass atmosphere and a very methodical and crisp rhythm set, the track lets the temperature drop and creates this signature profound vibe.

Yet if you expect the tune to be sad, dark and melancholic, you’re wrong. What starts with this kind of defensive moodset, evolves into a positive driving anthem that gets a really uplifting spotlight. You gotta love the mood change between vulnerable and kickass here. Being an angst ridden song about trying to get over an ex, this tune perfectly describes the torn feelings and the mixture of being hurt while still loving someone.

And to give it all an unexpected twist, the video contains an amazing change of events (which I won’t give away of course. See for yourself!) I love that this production, both music- and video-wise, contains so much detail and meaning. This was a lot of hard work, and it absolutely shows. “pathetic” is nothing less than awesome flawless storytelling.
