Muscular – Auraraver

The new release of producer Muscular does a great entrance. With a slow and methodic intro part, the stage is set for these glorified synth melodies and the futuretro-styled melodies. Along the processed vocal chops, the track gets an irresistible groove, which is a constant companion throughout the song.

Overall, ‘Auraraver’ builds a unique deep space atmosphere for the listener. You’ll find these sparkling textures in there, little percussive elements along crystalline risers that fill the room with darkness and shining stars somewhere out there, while the vocoded vocals bring in this vintage texture that feels like you just entered a time tunnel. On the end of the tunnel (aka later in the track), the track finished transforming into a more future pop track. I just love the fact that the song changes its appearance without changing the main theme. This is rather awesome storytelling than it is ‘just’ music.

With the tune not rushing anything, you can just flow in the groovy textures injected by the synth arpeggios, while the vocals do their extraordinary thing to make sure the track cannot be placed in just one certain genre. With the track evolving over time, the total running time is perfect to showcase this transformation. Like a good wine, there are things that need the proper time to be enjoyed, and ‘Auraraver’ is a perfect example why that also is true for music. So sit down, relax, put those closed headphones on, turn up the volume, and let the track tell you its unique story of time and space.
