Uncan – Galusha

I don't worry about the future.

I honestly can’t put my finger on what attracts me most in the new release of the New Jersey based electro artist known as Uncan. But I’ll try it anyway.

First and foremost, you got this ultra-laid back scenery happening here. In a widespread and deep relaxed setting, the slow rhythm along minimal percussive elements serve as the foundation for a reverbed synth piano setting that feels somewhat underwater-ish and dreamy. Mixed with the vocal one-shots of the 92 year old man, this tune somehow manages to spread relaxed wisdom all over the place. With the single elements happening like moths are dancing around a porch light, the tune feels settled and calm, yet there’s more than meets the eye (or better: ear). The atmosphere feels borderline surreal, but really relaxing at the same time. It’s tracks like these that blend several styles and moods into one, that transmit concepts rather than music. Obviously this isn’t your everyday radio-ready tune, but we have enough of these anyway. ‘Galusha’ keeps a perfect balance between music and art.
