BRAINCOATS – Highway Rats

This track is explained with one word: honesty. Taken off the EP ‘Fun Sad Songs’ that was released recently, this song feels like the real deal. Plus the guys of BRAINCOATS are ultra-believable as well. They have fun doing what they do, and it absolutely shows. It’s probably the mix of honesty, fun, energy and passion that makes me listen to this tune on repeat. With youthful drive and passion, Swedish band BRAINCOATS set sails to a new horizon, blending punk rock and alt rock to a whole new genre I like to call ‘coatrock’.

A fast paced, highly energetic, and driving backing sets the tone for this rocking tune. With distorted guitars, a lush and swinging bass melody and kickin’ rhythm patterns, the stage is set for the vocals to do their thing. For some reason, the song triggers a certain retro vibe in me, I guess this is because this is the sound I was listening to back in the days, when all the important things revolved around friends, companionship and, of course, parties without limit. This sound gets you on your feet no matter how hard the night before might have been.
