Zoë Moss – The Goddess

How to create a signature sound that stands out.

I can get lost in the sound of the new release of Zoë Moss. Go ahead, put on those closed headphones, turn up the volume and follow me into these playful mystical spheres of ‘The Goddess’.

I instantly fell in love with these vocals. They have this certain innocent flavour attached, which is blended with sassiness and a certain ‘untamed’ vibe. If this isn’t a unique and intriguing mix, then what is. These vocals are done in a very playful style that fits perfectly in this almost psychedelic underwater-ish atmosphere where the sound of the backing almost feels as it was swallowing thoughts just to drown them. The processing of several of those backing elements creates goosebumps. You’ll find distortion, stutter, reverb, bandwidth mix-up… there’s really a whole arsenal of processed elements available. And believe me, it’s so easy to mess up the whole feel with one false fader setting. But in this tune, somehow eveything works. The sound makes you dance, it makes you feel the cold, drowning vibe happening in there, this makes you sing along and at the same time listen to the elements get lost in the wideroomed dampened backing. Long story short: THIS is how to create a signature sound that stands out before other tracks, folks.
