Neeq Serene – The Others

A mysterious maze, filled with feelings.

The atmospheric environment in the new release of UK based electronic artist Neeq Serene is plain breathtaking. The backing tracks create this huge void where the listener feels alone, but at the same time comforted by the soft and mysterious vocals in there.

For me, the sound really feels as if you were completely alone, trapped inside your mind. While trying to make sense of it all, you are encountering little thoughts (for example, those percussive one-shots happening in the back or the stuttered synth melodies) in these thick layers of thoughts (those warm and slowly evolving synthscape textures). The vocals are guiding your thoughts, but they’re also not dominant or direct enough to help you out of this scenario. I love the fact that you can ‘get lost’ in the sound of ‘The Others’, it’s a mysterious maze filled with feeling and, later on, with groove, as if you got used to the new standard you found yourself in. The progression of the track keeps the tension and excitement in the tune. And the vocals inject a base melancholy that will always leave some questions unanswered. Long story short: this, guys, is electro to feel.
