Track Review

One Light – One Light

This is how a hymn is done the right way. “One Light” has everything: emotion, passion, and energetic drive.

Taken off the newly released EP “One Light”, this track probably is the best showcase of what the swedish band is capable of. What starts as a defensive and soft piano ballad in a minimal setting evolves into an energetic uplifting hymn backed by a driving full-band and backing-choir. The passionate vocals are switching from emotive and almost vulnerable to what I like to call “my-time-kickass” in an instant. The rising tension in between the track is done carefully to not give away the surprise right away, so to speak.

I wasn’t aware of where this track was going to when I first heard it, and those of you who know me know that I really like being surprised by what I hear. And boy, “One Light” (both the track and the band) managed to raise both of my eyebrows today. Expect to hear awesome things from these guys. They already found their signature sound with this awesome blend of emotion, passion and drive, and from what I hear, there’s nothing in their way to stop them. This isn’t just what you can categorize as ‘alternative pop rock’. This is ‘alternative rock+’.
