Mindsong – Gold

I couldn’t agree more.

This track reminds me strongly of one of those happy ending movies. You know, the ones that are too good to be true, where everything falls in place in the end, and the good guy gets the girl. In a ultra-romantic setting, “Gold” sends you to this spotlight focused stage of these emotional and passionate vocals of swedish multitalent Henrik Johansson, better known as Mindsong. There’s just something believable attached to these vocals, and with a carefully constructed composition of piano, strings and additional backing instruments, it feels really meant to be.

I love that there even are orchestratic elements to find in the song. This wasn’t just any other ten-minutes-brainstorming to come up with a pop hit no one cares about in three months from now – Johansson put really much thought and effort in this to create an atmosphere in which you just want to hold your loved one. Actually feel the one next to you. Enjoy being close.

This is meaningful music, folks. A song gets that special ‘glow’ when the artist puts that amount of thought into the concept of a track, from tonal progression to tension to…well, practically everything. And boy – “Gold” has that glow. It glows like a neon sign in the dark saying “EMOTION” in capital letters.
