Travel With The Sun – Psycho

Attention, guys – this tune goes under the skin, and it does so in a very intense way. You’ve been warned.

If you’re not too comfortable with someone screaming their message right at your face, then “Psycho”, one of the new releases of the swedish band Travel With The Sun, might not be for you. What starts with a soft piano melody in a cave-like atmosphere (that actually describes an unreal empty state of mind with just the sound dripping water) evolves quickly to an intense statement that will blow off your headphones, so better fasten your seatbelts, people.

Anyone who has been on a rollercoaster before knows that special feeling when you reached the end of the climb. You can see the point of no return, moving towards it…and them BAM! – there’s your adrenaline kicking in. That’s about the feel when the chorus sets in, you feel the tension rising during the verse through the electro processed drums and the melodies, and there it is. Showtime. The chorus vocals are done in an unreal and unexpected energetic level, good enough for not raising one but both eyebrows. Needless to say, the backing tracks are going great along the vocals, played intense but not too fast-paced or driven. Just enough to let the scenery be dark and with that outstanding vibe of the unknown. Those guys know exactly about the effect of their music.

It’s awesome when artists manage to actually make the track scenery feelable as if you were allowed a glimpse into someone else’s brain. Uncomfortable? Yes. Confusing? Absolutely. Worth the ride? Hell yeah. No doubt.
