Monica Lyrae – Apology

This is how to make an impact with music. Musically, but also lyrically. But mostly, the impact can be felt emotionally. The new release of Monterrey, Mexico-based singer/songwriter Monica Lyrae contains a surreal amount of tension that is created out of nothing, starting with a piano narrative that soon develops into a full-blown, electro beat supported almost theatrical play.

I love how the tension rises in “Apology”. The tune is like an awakening of desperate thoughts that wanted to surface for so long. The music describes the song’s intention perfectly, asking about what happens when illusions become a reality that wasn’t foreseen. I’d like to describe the sound as an intense dance of perceptions, an emotional whirlwind of passion, desire, and realization. All of this is delivered in a unique ardent way, putting the listener in the front seat of a play of intimate thoughts. Taken from the upcoming album “Spirals”, this track serves as a teaser for what’s next to come.
