WHAT’RE WE NOW? (The False Alarms)

Fasten your seatbelts, folks. This one will take you for a ride, and it’s not a leisurely paced one.

This one’s only ingredient is intensity. Don’t be tricked by the melodic calm intro, the mission of “WHAT’RE WE NOW?” is kind of indicated by the capital letters. Once the listener is lured into the story, it’s time to get kicked by a grungy guitar/bass combination, a fast-paced unforgiving beat, and some vehement impulsive vocals. Coping with the covid years, this song is nothing less than a three-minute reflective statement of a question that might live in the heads of so many of us.

And that’s what I love about this tune, there’s this unfiltered raw energy vented that cannot be staged. It’s the primal scream of a whole generation, the desperate declaration of everyone that cannot speak for themselves and wondered if they were alone with their thoughts. Whoever thought that punk rock is dead is dead wrong. It’s still delivered by your friendly neighborhood False Alarms.
