Manni V – Drunk and Lonely

Can you hear that? There’s this unique melancholy present in the new release of Atlanta based singer/songwriter Manuela Vallejo, better known as Manni V. With a very fragile and crystalline start, the track evolves to a steady and calm grooving masterpiece.

What attracts me most in this track are the vocals. Being a perfect mix of lost and confident, with that signature ‘shy’ component, those vocals feel at ease yet fully in charge. Telling the story about finally moving on from a relationship that never worked, ‘Drunk and Lonely’ perfectly captures that sad vibe one experiences in such a situation. We all have been there, or even done that. What’s left at the end of the night are more hurt feelings, more broken hearts and a fainted will to continue the relationship.

With a relaxed rhythm set and an atmosphere designed by relaxed ynth melodies, the track doesn’t rush anything, nor does it build up too much energy or drive. It’s a statement that is presented with soul and passion. Done this way, the tune feels like it is able to slow down time.
