Well, it’s about time that someone just countered the seriousness of the business with a lightweight and fun approach. Some may call it silly – I call it awesome.

I’ll be completely honest with you guys – the first time I clicked on the video, I was tempted to hit the stop button right after a few seconds. It was one of these “what the…”-moments – probably the same moment you just faced while having a look for the first time. But then I got curious. I thought “well, if he fails, I wanna see how MUCH he fails”. And then it hit me. The secret superpower of the singer/songwriter Cridland is that he disguises as a guy who doesn’t seem like he even knows where he’s going. And I totally fell for it.
Backed by quite a retro vibe, the song is done fun and pretty much easy going. The vocals underline the not-so-serious character of the track, and the certain dance groove lets the track keep its pace without “thickening” it too much. (Of course, once you saw the video coming with the song, it’s hard to even fully concentrate on the song anymore.) In a world where it’s all about numbers, chart position and income, popularity and dog-eat-dog-attitude, it’s really comforting to know there are people like Cridland out there. Guys and girls showing us that being serious and important sometimes isn’t so important after all. And don’t be fooled by the lighweight, sometimes goofy theme – producing music and music videos like this is still a huge amount of work. (Heck, you even need a guy to watch your back so you won’t get hit by a car while dancing on the street.) He and his crew put the same amount of work in their craft as any other artist out there. Main difference: he does it with a smile on his face. Plus he makes the listeners smile. Humanity desperately needs that motivation nowadays.
