Jessica Smucker – Let’s Get a Tree

Right on time, this new release of singer/songwriter brings the christmas spirit right to our living rooms. And it does so with a really unique point of view.

I love the honest peak that Smucker grants us listeners. And I bet she speaks out of the mind of most of us. Who ever thought where he/she would be down this road called life? And what better time than christmas time to reflect on this? I love the playful yet serious way in which the song does its thing. It’s not a cheesy all-the-way christmas gloryfier, nor is it the opposite, but I know exactly what it is: its honest. It’s relatable. The sound feels warm, calm and relaxed, and call me crazy, but I think that this song shows the essence of Smucker not only as a musician, but as a human as well. ‘Let’s Get a Tree’ is fun, it’s serious as well, and in between the lyrics, it has this wisdom blended in, which is only for those who actually care to listen closely. Long story short: this tune has character and charisma. That’s why it belongs on this seasons’ playlists.
