Josh Stevens – Somewhere

The latest release of LA based singer/songwriter Josh Stevens contains a lot of melancholy for me. Performed with a huge amount of passion, I think this track and the story told within is very dear to the singer/songwriter.

With a handmade setting and a honest approach, the song triggers some kind of a ‘been there, done that’ feel in me. Sometimes it seems that the vocals are rather thrown in your face than sung to the listener because of the intensity, of how emotional they were done. The video along “Somewhere” is a one-shot little walk that goes backwards over the whole track, and while the pictures don’t reflect the lyrics, they actually do make me think. Call me crazy, but this lets you reflect about all the ‘whys’ and ‘ifs’ in life while you watch the guy walking there.

So, to sum it up, the man with the hat has everything he needs in his toolbox to really reach you with his music. Whether its quiet and emotional or energetic and driving, he knows how to aim for those little receptors in the ear that are connected directly with the emotional center of the brain.
