OX – Going Down
Like a sleeping wild animal, this song feels like it was always there, hidden in the shadows. Well folks, sleeping time is over. Time to wake up, this is Going Down.
With a special kind of intensity, this track lifts you off your chair and takes you for a ride. Not necessarily the “hey, wanna go with me?” kind, more the “lets go. NOW.” kind of experience. The guitars spread power all over the place, the vocals of Simon Ochs switch seamlessly from soft as a pillow to hard as a rock and the drums keep the track on track with a steady run and some sweet fills. (Being a drummer myself, I just had to point those fills out.)
With a part restless, part confident feel transmitted through their music, Simon Ochs, Max Siegmund, Niklas Reinfandt and Nadir Zee, better known as OX, know how to deliver not only solid alternative rock, but also the necessary amount of emotion and passion. I got to be honest for a second, there’s also a video for this track, but I chose not to link to it here simply because I feel it takes away the intensity of the track a bit. But that aside, “Going Down” is exactly how this kind of music was meant to be – wild, rough around the edges, fearless, confident, and with the right amount of kick-ass.
