Kate Ellis – Wonderland

There’s a certain pristine emotion connected to the 2021 release of London based singer/songwriter Kate Ellis. This tune somehow is able to create a safe haven for your soul, as it enchants the listener with a soft drive and magical harmonized vocals.

With soft guitar textures and an unobtrusive rhythm, the track feels like a bright and warm summer day. The vocals are connected to this signature styled dreamy defensive vibe, which probably would be the musical equivalent to whispering. Yet the tune won’t feel too diminished or weak, on the contrary. Due to the uplifting emotion happening, the tune contains a special energy that feels alive and encouraging, transmitting the message in a passionate yet modest way. Being about how perceiving nature in a viscerally connected way gives us a deeper appreciation of it, the track pictures the state of nature in a perfect way. Everything seems bright and in motion.

You just can hear that Kate Ellis gives away little pieces of her heart and soul with every track, and with “Wonderland” it’s no different. Her sound is comforting, it offers a ton of emotion and feels comforting like a soft blanket. Yet if she wants to, she can step on it and add drive and energy like she did in “Scars”. In the end, whatever direction she’s going for, there’s always heart and soul to find.
