Eckotrigger – Decoy

Seriously, I love the mysterious atmosphere happening in the new release of Eckotrigger. These edgy wobbling synths along an arpeggiated melodic construct hailing from the dark. Amongst all, there’s this sublime voice, feeling part threatening, part preaching, with a harsh undertone. Once the scenario builds towards the chorus, the tune suddenly opens up with soft and warm textures, a human rhythm, and a much brighter feel. In a way, this tune feels like checking out every corner of an unknown world.

As you can see (or better: hear and feel), “Decoy” is a master in building a scenery to feel. Having this slight retro flavour attached to seemingly basic floaty synths, the track does its thing in a very majestic way. Having effects and extras added later on, the tune is constantly in motion, and with those sparkling synth textures, the track has this unique ‘extraterrestrial’ vibe attached.

Representing the pressures of life, the guys of Eckotrigger used some dense and edgy synth tracks that for me reflect all the outside elements pouring down on you on a constant base. With the vocals being somewhat dreamy during the chorus parts, there’s a certain ‘lost’ mood added that counters the strict tone of the verses. Paul Dogra and Joel Alexander, the masterminds behind Eckotrigger, know exactly how to blend this extraordinary futuretro vibe into their tracks, and with “Decoy” it’s no different. The tune spans a dozen different genre influences, and that’s what makes this sound so intriguing.
