Mintage – Belladonna

You gotta love this dark chill scenario. The new release of German producer Mintage builds a quite uncomfortable atmosphere which sets the listener into fight or flight mode from the first seconds on. Everything in this scenery feels unforgiving, cold and threatening. And I absolutely love it.

The harsh edgy synths are paving the way of the track like relentless machines, while the used melodies feel like human thoughts which are long forgotten in this realm. Due to the intelligent mixture of single elements, the track gets set into motion, awakened by a steady groove, driven by darkness. It’s awesome that “Belladonna” manages to be felt as much as it’s heard. The scenery created by the slow methodical beat along room-filling melodic textures feels energetic and somewhat doomed at the same time.

Mintage’s bio on Spotify reads he’s ‘one of the darkest and weirdest freaks you can think of’. I don’t know if this is true, yet his music backs this statement perfectly. This tune itself is a creature designed to let the temperature drop. Lurking in the shadows, it’s waiting for you, ready to inject its darkness and weirdness into your bloodstream.
