Flatfoot Sam – Ferry Chain

Where innovative percussive constructs meet floaty dark synth textures, where lush female vocals seamlessly coexist with wind instrument melodies, where the night blends with the light of day – this is the playground of UK based producer Jon Hannan, better known as Flatfoot Sam.

In his new release, you’ll find a signature styled drive. With a percussive base that blends with arpeggiated synth melodies and bubbly elements, the track feels like being in constant motion, driven by an unknown force into unknown territory. One of the things that attract me most in this tune is the presence of what the mutlitalent calls ‘Tripfield’, a unique genre blend that defines the style of Flatfoot Sam throughout all his work. It’s that certain playful curiosity that is enrichred with some rough edges to form a perfect mix of soft groove and harsh textures. I’d like to call this ‘serious groove’ by the way, it’s when there’s a regular lush groove happening, yet the tune reaches a higher level by a signature styled serious undertone.

Long story short, “Ferry Chain” contains energy, drive, tension, excitement, melodic groove – and it’s all giftwrapped with a certain dark playfulness. This tune is groovy darkness that just feels right.
