Eckotrigger – New Narcissism

You gotta love the atmosphere created by the new release of alternative electro duo Paul Dogra and Joel Alexander. What starts with arpeggiated synths and an unobtrusive rhythm setting, builds this retro-flavoured saturated stage that seems born out of the best of past and present. With a backing that is constantly in motion yet not hectic or unresting, the stage is all set for the soulful dark male vocals.

And here is where the tune does instantly stick to your head. Those creamy synths in addition with the calm and deep vocals are blended into a retrolectro groove that feels just universal. Wholesome. At peace, with a deeper meaning. This is not your everyday shallow happy pop tune, “New Narcissism” is carefully crafted to last way longer than the 3.5 minutes of its running time. There’s groove and passion, there’s a ton of elements placed in the tune to ensure a non-linear feel at all times, and there’s this playful vintage element present that instantly sticks to the listener. This track cannot be put into an existing genre. This, boys and girls, is a new breed. It’s called Eckopop.
