Christine Sako – Coda

I seriously fell in love with the new release of Minneapolis based indie-pop solo artist Christine Sako. Love at first ear-sight, so to speak. And here’s why.

The tune oozes heartfelt honest emotion. Using a defensive signature styled synth pop base, the tune builds a relaxed yet expressive atmosphere in which the listener can just feel at ease while listening to the song’s story. And here’s the kicker: ‘Coda’ isn’t as happy as you would think, because the song is about writhing with desperation and heartbreak. That’s right. Sako managed to pour her feelings in such a unique manner that you just know it comes from her heart and soul.

I’m pretty sure that most of you guys out there have lived through situations like the one the song describes, and while we all were desperately trying to not being shaken and rattled by it, we for sure found ourselves in a situation that wouldn’t feel nor sound like this tune. (Yet I wish it would have back then.) You just gotta love this new approach to deal with this.

Long story short: wearing the heart on the sleeve has never sounded better. With a soft and well-rounded appeal, and vocals that melt icebergs, this track both acknowledges these situations and is sort of a recipe of how you can keep your sanity. (Plus it has a mighty addictive groove attached!) You gotta love the combination of the uplifting melodies and vocals that cleary indicate the honesty and vulnerability which was meant to be transmitted.
