Michael Dean Tippens – Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins and Grotesques

I love the theatrical approach of this song. Taken from the EP ‘Halloween Undying’, this track has a unique appearance that holds a perfect balance between comedy and skilled music.

The basic scenery, made of guitar, defensive rhythms and string melodies, creates a great atmosphere while the tune tells a story about a homeowner with a sweet tooth who’s frustrated. First, the idea is awesome in my opinion. Imagine this song performed in proper gear and a dark-ish setting. This is storytelling at its best. With a very significant vocal approach, the tune gets a very sophisticated undertone that gives away a certain ‘been there, done that’ element from the musician.

Surely you won’t find this tune in the top ten of the industry. But you know me, forget about shallow glam mainstream. ‘Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins and Grotesques’ brings everything to the table for a song to be effective, melodic, groovy and entertaining. THIS is real music.
