Neon Fields – Bleak

The tune starts like if you’d just entered a forbidden cave. Within seconds, the song goes deep under your skin, and you’ll notice it going into goosebump mode instantly. The South-West UK based trio Neon Fields once again use a dark, cinematic soundscape to paint the atmosphere before your inner eye. With some percussive echoed elements, the scenery is designed to make you feel isolated, and a bit uncomfortable with the dense synths threat to swallow all the light, leaving you in pitch black darkness.

With transmitting a signature-styled lonely wolf-vibe, the track reflects a certain key element of everyone’s psyche in my opinon. We can be surrounded by millions yet feel lonely. We can be soaked in happiness while crying on the inside. We all are fighters living through this inner fight every day, trying not to fall apart while holding on to hopes and dreams, walking on razor’s edge more than once in our lifetime. This intensity is pictured perfectly in ‘Bleak’. Once hope is failing, we are on our own. And no, we’re not supposed to curl up in the corner and just give up. We’re supposed to stand our ground. Well, there you have it. That is pretty much what this tune means to me. It’s time to make this life your own. Time to hunt everything down that keeps you down.
