LHO – Gaslight

Taken off the EP ‘The Butterfly Effect’, the new track of Boston based singer/songwriter LHO marks the end of a narcissistic relationship. And if you ask me: the last word of a failed relationship was never before told in such a groove-loaded honest way.

Processed vocal one-shots build this intense dark and melancholic atmosphere which at the same time is loaded with a signature groove that takes its time, yet it feels driving and dedicated. I love that the tension the track transmits is coming with this slow and methodic aura. The vocals are done smooth like silk, they tell their story with a mix of defensive emotion and confidence, and an almost dangerous ‘listen closely’ vibe woven in. You gotta love the vehemence in which the vocals are done without ever getting angry or loud.

In this special environment where everything feels calm and connected to a constant slight groove, the vocals are at home, it’s as if you were granted a look inside the mind of the skilled singer. There’s this signature honesty happening that cannot be staged, the moodset of the song just feels authentic. The vibe of the tune isn’t something that can be designed. In my opinion you gotta live through such a scenario to actually be able to transmit what it’s about. ‘Gaslight’ hits the mark perfectly.
