Leaving Spirit – Myth of the Delta Blues

It’s time to feel the groove, ladies and gentlemen. You gotta love the down-to-earth handmade vibe happening in the new release of german based band Leaving Spirit.

I gotta be honest here for a sec… when I first heard the song, I wasn’t aware that the band was that young. The sound feels intese, matured and laid back as if those guys were doing this for ages. The backing feels loaded with groove, takes its time to deliver, and creates a relaxed rockin’ atmosphere that paints a scenery made of wisdom, whiskey and wandering thoughts. The vocals are intense and doing their thing in a signature expressive style. The storytelling feels really unique because of these crisp vocals. Usually, you will hear some beaten down, melancholic guy at this end, yet here the young and distinct voice makes you raise all available eyebrows. (THIS is how to create signature sound, by the way.) ‘Myth of the Delta Blues’ feels like a generation crossover both in regards to age AND music style. Leaving the original rockin’ scheme intact, the guys of Leaving Spirit added their own sassy youthful approach to the scene. And boy, this works perfectly in my opinion.
