Kat Kennedy – Goodbye

You gotta love the playful vibe in which the seriousness of the message is gift-wrapped in. The new release of multitalented singer/songwriter Kat Kennedy maybe labeled as an emotional breakup song, yet there’s so much more to it.

With a very lightweight and confident appeal, the message is served in a distinct and focused way. You gotta love the balance between the emotional side of things, and the groove that’s coming along with it. The track manages to highlight the good side of a breakup while delivering in a signature styled ‘my turn’ fashion. The lightweight melodic synths that create the backing somehow make the sun rise again – overall the whole tune feels like the first day after a breakup, where you finally are able to go outside again, to take a walk in the sun while smiling. Being thankful that this chapter is finally over.

The vocals are the secret ingredient in ‘Goodbye’. They bring a whole palette of emotion and expression to the table. Still feeling vulnerable at parts, they switch seamlessly to confident and uplifting.
Overall, it’s both this diversity and the delivered confidence of the song that attract me most. Sure, breakups are hell. But listening to this tune, you just know that one day you’ll be back in the saddle.
