narcissus – Cuttin’ Thru Red Tape

I found it. This. This is exactly the soundtrack of what I’m going to play over and over when stepping outside my door. No matter what time, date or weather conditions, the new release of Mancunian electronica outfit narcissus slows down time in the coolest way there is. The energetic lush beat gets an awesome groove into the tune, while the handmade instrument tracks fill the atmosphere with soul. And then, there are of course these sophisticated and expressive vocals courtesy of Becki Fishwick. Feeling really at home in the scenario that is created by the backing, these vocals carry a certain sassy yet ultra-convincing component.

For me personally, ‘Cuttin’ Thru Red Tape’ feels very cool. We’re talking sunglasses-at-night cool here. I’d prefer this to be my entrance theme for the next business meeting. Or the next walk in the park. Heck, even the next time I check the mailbox, there should be this vibe. The track gets you moving, yet it doesn’t force anything on you. It serves rather as a catalyst to get the unfiltered coolness out of you. The single instrument tracks along the expressive vocals give the sound a very sophisticated appeal, and after all its this special appeal that makes me put this track on repeat.
