Michael Maas – Frozen Flowers

I simply love the atmosphere that is created within these two minutes of music. The 2020 release of german composer Michael Maas paints a picture in your head that feels as old and wise as time itself. With a defensive piano-based theme and a minimalistic yet ultra-effective reverbed backing, the tune indicates that it doesn’t have to prove anything to you. There’s a certain confidence woven into the melody, and the slow progression concept feels like if you would watch a plant grow.

In the end, it’s exactly this vibe that makes ‘Frozen Flowers’ so intriguing. The melodies contain a huge amount of emotions, while there’s also this playful light-heartedness present. This emotional setting gives the sound a very innocent and (in lack of better words) ‘newborn’ glow that cannot be constructed, it somehow evolves as the melodies fill the room, trying to find their way in this life. It’s awesome how the sound grows without putting more energy or tension in it. Long story short: this is timeless music, designed to have an impact on anyone who listens.
