The Receiver – To Battle an Island

Alright then, before we go on this journey, lets check the essentials, shall we? You got your ticket, you’re not afraid of majestic vintage-flavored synth atmospheres, and you got no problems with a huge amount of emotion packed into defensive yet progressive vocals, right? Welcome to this journey then! This, guys, is the outstanding work of from Casey and Jesse Cooper, better known as The Receiver.

Taken off the album ‘All Burn’, this tune creates a very unique scenario for me. The sound feels like a blend of trippy lightweight retro vibes, merged with a driving undertone that has electro synthwaves woven into. You think this sounds complex? You’re right, there’s much more than meets the eye (better yet: ear) in ‘To Battle an Island’ waiting to be explored. The overall moodset feels like a perfect day at the beach, when you’re just glad to be alive, while the sun is caressing your skin as you enjoy watching life in all forms around you. But then you’re on the run all of the sudden. I’m stunned by the warm and soft approach that is handed to the listener in addition to that signature styled drive and energy right after. You gotta love this decisive vibe that is present in this tune.
