Nervous City Nervous Self – Steel Blue Air

In the new release of David Josephson, better known as Nervous City Nervous Self, you’ll find a certain futuretro melancholy. While the vocals are spreading this signature sad melancholy we already have heard in other releases of the Swedish songwriter, this time he chose a unique backing atmosphere for his track.

While there are soft and silky synths creating a soundscape curtain softly waving in the wind of melodies, the piano paints the details of the backing in which the vocals are not only floating, but constantly hovering above the ground, so to speak. The bellish components and the rhythm give ‘Steel Blue Air’ a very outlandish exoplanetary shimmer, making the sound feel lost and lonely. Not just sad, but enriched with a certain curious vibe in it as well. By triggering that reflective component in my mind, the tune serves as a catalyst for deep thoughts about me, and about where I stand in this big crazy game called life.
