The new release of Swedish singer/songwriter Shadi G combines soulful vocals with a lush groove and a melodic base. The carefully arranged tune does an awesome job in not selling something it’s not, the rhythm setting is placed upfront but not dominant, giving the crisp and almost fragile vocals enough room to coexist.
What attracts me most about ‘The Wound is the Place Where the Light Enters You’ is its ability to make you slowly move AND feel the emotions that are woven in at the same time. The emotional melodic base reflects the story told by the lyrics perfectly. Also, there’s this intriguing groove present which, along the honest vocals, make this tune awesome emotional soulfood. So lean back, close your eyes, and listen to the story of a relationship that has come to end.
