Quick Shots #30: Super Marine

/ How are you guys holding up with all the Covid restrictions going on?
/ Super Marine:
It’s been a tough year for everyone in the industry and like all bands and artists we’re dying to get back on stage doing what we love. We’ve tried to use this time to be as productive as possible – improving our craft on our instruments, working on new music, rehearsing whenever possible etc. We just want to be ready to go when the time comes.

/ After releasing ‘Long Walk Home’ back in July, how will 2021 look like? Any projects coming up?
/ Super Marine:
We’ve got so much new music coming through at the moment that the next time we play a gig, we could probably play a full set of brand new songs! In the past we’ve released singles one at a time but next time we’ll be doing things a bit different. We’re heading back into the studio in February with producer Rich Jackson, who we’ve worked with previously, to record our first full EP. We’re hoping to have it ready to release in the spring and we’re mega excited about it.

/ Describe your typical songwriting process.
/ Super Marine:
Up until now, vocalist Rhys Davis has been the primary songwriter for the band but with our newer material, it’s been more of a collaborative effort working with ideas we have from notebooks, phone recordings etc to make demos. Bringing a new member to the band in Sophie has changed the dynamic and has helped us to take our music in a new direction. It’s an exciting time to be writing and we can’t wait to get into the studio to record in February.
