Alec Jordan – Oceans

Released a month ago, this track uses a slow and methodical approach to hit you with unfiltered emotion. What caught my attention immediately was the slow and calm base setting of the track. With seemingly minimal elements used, the track feels really slow at times, but this is perfect for transmitting the overall moodset of the song. In addition with the beaten down and honest vocals by Jordan, the song really emphasizes on the melancholic and hurt emotion that it’s trying to transmit.

I believe the tune to originate from the heart. The vocals tell their story with a certain heartbroken attitude that most of us can relate to. The melodic elements in the backing feel playful and at times almost like tiny bubbles in the ocean. The beat is done calm and relaxed but puts enough pressure into the scenery to keep the track alive and energized. I have to admit that the auto-tune used is not really my cup of tea, but everything else just falls in place with ‘Oceans’.
