Chloe Hennessee – Play with Fire

When Hennessee sings, people listen.

I have to admit that I fell in love with the voice of singer/songwriter Chloe Hennessee right away. I’m not sure what attracts me most about it, maybe it’s this fragility that can be heard, maybe its the innocent undertone that reflects a certain vulnerability. Fact is: when Hennessee sings, people listen. She manages to create soundscapes with her beautiful voice, and when she’s backed by this signature styled mixture of handmade and electro elements, there’s a complete scenery built by the tune.

I really like the mixture of confidence, fragility and emotion happening in ‘Play with Fire’. The vocals make the song stand out compared to others in that genre, although in not really sure if the song fits one certain genre. The tension build in there feels borderline altrock, while there are electro and ballad elements to find as well. The well-rounded mix lets the song shine in the brightest way possible. Maybe we should put this tune into a new genre I like to call ‘chloe rock’.
