I Want Poetry – Islanders

From vulnerable to lager-than-life.

The new release of german duo I Want Poetry builds a huge room. We’re not talking about a big cathedral here. We’re talking about an endless cavern. With a mysterious glow, the used synths fill the room with a majestic atmosphere, while the used one-shots add some natural, almost animalistic vibe to that scenario. Evolving arpeggiated bellish sounds and distinct percussive elements do get some depth and tension in there. Even without anything else from this point on, the built soundscape would be an awesome environment to just exist in for an hour or so.

And then there are those pristine female vocals. Being attached to a certain seen-it-all feel, these vocals guide you through this huge room, lifting you off the ground with positive energy and a certain wise undertone. I guess what makes ‘Islanders’ so irresistible for me is the larger-than-life vibe that’s to find in there. The track goes from small and vulnerable to an absolute wow-setting within two minutes. I love when I am enabled to experience a song rather than just listen to it.
