Bandmaster – I Might Get High Tonight

Icy. Cold. Edgy. Raw. Sexy. Groovy.

The new release of Latvian trio Bandmaster shows so many facettes that it is kinda hard to categorize it. What caught my attention right away was that dirty distorted synth base that feels harsh and cold, but in addition with the soft warm melodic synth and, of course, these almost fragile female vocals, the track creates its very own creative environment that seems to be in constant groove and slow motion. The vocals give the track this sexy human touch, forming a perfect counterpart to the electro environment.

Sometimes the track seemingly loses its structure, getting a bit chaotic, but only to create that special kind of psychedelic electro vibe that is ‘wrapped around’ the sound. I love that all the elments of ‘I Might Get High Tonight’ are chosen to feel edgy and borderline confusing, yet they always keep their structure and definition somewhere in between the beat and the wave-like base synth. The tune also doesn’t rush anything, in a way it feels like the thoughts coming to life when you wake up in the morning and your brain starts to work, slowly evolving into a big energetic pile of groove.
