Debris Discs – No Fear
Not only a story being told but a whole play.
There is a certain vintage melancholy attached to the newest release of songwriter James Eary, better known as Debris Discs. With a light and playful backing and these emotional vocals, the song triggers memories and feelings in me. The soft appearance of all the instrument backing tracks transmits a very warm and fuzzy core feeling.
What’s really intriguing is that the backing is in constant movement. If you listen closely, you can hear the single synth tracks following arpeggiated patterns in a roomy setting, making the sound not static but feeling alive and ‘breathing’. The arpeggiated sounds are blended with crystalline high pitched synth melodies which feel like little birds flying by. The relaxed yet distinct bass line feels like the oldest ingredient in there, guiding the tune from start to finish, while the vocals are allowed to tell their story in this awesome wholesome scenario. ‘No Fear’ is not only a story that is being told, it’s a whole play with a scenery that will stick to your head for quite some time.
