Vandalye – Blame the Record

Pure thoughts, emotional and melodic.

With the new release of Vandalye there comes a warm and relatable vibe. These calm and emotional vocals take you by the hand to tell you their side of the story. Backed by a sparkling, almost vintage synth and guitar backing, the vocals are living and acting in a special soft atmosphere which feels save and comforting. The slow rhythm does inject a certain kind of warmth, as if you were handed a blanket along with this song.

Doing a review of ‘The Ride’ a couple of months ago (remember? It was the one where they got shot with paintpall guns and eggs.) , I was surprised to find a softer side of the guys of Vandalye with ‘Blame The Record’. They always have an emotional and honest message attached to their songs, but in the new release they packed in an additional mature element to maximise the more serious and emotional side of things. For some reason, this triggers this picture in me where you riding home at night, staring out of the bus window. With the track being about dealing with anxiety and depression, THIS is exactly how to handle such a topic. Emotional, but not too melancholic. Melodic, but not too energetic. In other words: this is how to transmit pure thoughts.
