The Sand – Believe

An edgy, ultra-honest, and emotional anthem.

I love this melancholic undertone in the new release of the Spanish altrock band The Sand. For me, it feels like one of these days. You know, the ones where you even hate to get up in the morning because you just know this once again is going to get ugly. ‘Believe’ seems to be an edgy, ultra-honest, and emotional anthem for these times. There’s as much mood output to find as there is music available in this track. The video even backs this desperate, melancholic setting in its own quirky yet effective way.

With a very basic band concept, the track creates tension with this borderline grungy vibe happening. The rocking essence of the track has a well-known drive while the vocals bring some desperation and passion to the table. You gotta love the simple yet ultra-effective main theme, this tune proves once again that you don’t need maxed effect chains nor hundreds of percussive or effect tracks to still transmit the message loud and clear. This, guys, is classy altrock 101.
