Chris Noah – The Line

Most of us have been there.

This track of Latvian singer/songwriter Chris Noah contains a very honest and feelable core melancholy for me. The soft arpeggiated melodies, the roomy reverbed soundscape synths, the slow and relaxed rhythm – all of the elements in this track create a certain ‘been there, done that’ feeling in me. With the extra guitars getting involved, woven in with some retro drum one-shots, ‘The Line’ even gets a certain vintage glow in the process.

The vocals are making all the difference though. They really feel at home in this scenario. Done in an authentic honest fashion, they inject something into the tune I’d like to call ‘confident melancholy’. The vocals are not too sad or anything, it’s as if they just wanted to tell the listener how the story goes without judging. (Although the song is about holding on to a relationship that’s gone already.) I love the way the emotions are transmitted in this track. Most of us have been there, and really can relate to the feeling. ‘The Line’ ultimately is the perfect hymn for letting go of lost relationships.
