DANII – Don’t Touch My Heart

Maximum effect with seemingly minimal elements.

The atmosphere. This curious atmosphere of the song is a really great element to draw a picture of how unserious the whole topic is taken amongst many out there. In these times, relationships and dating are taken lightly (like these playful synth arpeggios happening in the back). When all is said and done, we’re left in this void (the dark moody percussive-driven atmosphere) with many things that weren’t spoken out loud. What I love about the new release of Brisbane based singer/songwriter DANII is the maximum effect that is done with seemingly minimal elements. The really slow and methodical beat lets the listener stand still in a huge room of thoughts, those percussive one-shots cut like a knife through the void of feelings and expectations, and the vocals are both fragile and tempting. The whole scenery feels both so right and somewhat wrong. This versatility of the track is plain awesome.

‘Don’t Touch My Heart’ absolutely triggers my current moodset. In a way, I can identify with this void created by the song, and with this melodic groove that leaves your mind somewhat restless and your thoughts rushing.
