Alakazam – Invite Only

You gotta love when music tells you a full story rather than just lets you listen to the notes.

For some reason, this sound feels like a soundtrack of someones’ life. With a very slow and confident approach, the new release of Dutch band Alakazam builds an atmosphere that feels a lot like ‘been there, done that’. The drums in this seemingly small room slap their patterns methodically, while the guitars lay down the base for the vocals. These are done really relatable, emotional and warm, but they also contain a special mysterious element. It seems almost like there’s a secret hidden in these vocals that no one will ever know, and even the backing supports this half-shadow-ish mysterious scenario.

All in all, ‘Invite Only’ not only is a groovy tune, but it also tells you a story as the song progresses – not only through the lyrics but also through the special way in which everything was arranged and done.
